It is fine to leave, airlines has rules but they are not laws. In the old days, there were many flights with short layovers when most passengers remain onboard, haven’t run into any in recent years.
What does hidden city mean? The “hidden cities” in this context are all of the places that become much cheaper to fly to when you’re supposed to only be there for a few hours on a layover instead of a final destination.
Can I book a round trip flight and not return?
Technically, you can buy a roundtrip ticket and only use it to go one-way, but airlines frown upon this. And, you can only skip the return flight. If you miss a segment of your trip, the airline may cancel the rest of your ticket without giving you a refund.
